Rudraksha, also rudraksh, Sanskrit: rudrākṣa ("Rudra's eyes").

These Mala are made from the seed of a large evergreen tree. These seeds are traditionally used for prayer beads in Hinduism.

Mala is a type of Rosary, used for repetitive prayer (japa) and is an aid in meditation and worship in Hinduism. Sikhs and Buddhists also use these for meditation purposes to sanctify the mind, body and spirit.

It is lore that Lord Shiva opened his eyes after a long period of yogic meditation and was so moved and fulfilled that he shed a tear and from this single tear grew the Rudraksha tree.

Rudrakshas also used for the treatment of various diseases in traditional Indian medicine.

Traditionally these Mala can only be worn with a black or red string or a gold chain.
